Mads Mikkelsen to model H&M's menswear this autumn

Classic tailoring, jersey basics, knitwear and uniform-inspired pieces are key for this autumn's menswear collection from H&M. This is an exclusive collection in grey, white and black with accent colours in purple and blue. The model for this season's ad campaign is Mads Mikkelsen, one of Scandinavia's leading international actors.

'I've been wearing H&M clothes since I was a boy. H&M is a great brand and it is always exciting to see what they will come up with next. I was delighted when they asked me to be part of this autumn's campaign. H&M is innovative, fashionable and cool, and I am looking forward to our cooperation,' says Mads Mikkelsen.

Suits are single-breasted and slim fit for autumn, whilst shirts are plain, checked or striped. New colour ways have been introduced for shirts & v-neck sweaters these are purple, petrol, navy, moss green and wine. A heavy cotton coat worn with a fine cashmere scarf completes the tailored silhouette. A separate jacket, peacoat or a uniform-inspired jacket is combined with tailored trousers or jeans. These are worn layered with a grandad tee or shirt and a knitted sweater or sleeveless pullover in black.

'We are really pleased that Mads Mikkelsen will be modelling this season's menswear. He symbolises the pared-down and masculine look that much of this autumn's fashion at H&M is centred around,' says H&M's head of design Margareta van den Bosch.

INSPIRATION: Classic tailoring and 90s minimalism

COLOURS: Black, grey and white with bright accent colours such as red and purple.

MATERIAL: Tweed, cool wool, merino wool, cashmere, cotton.

PATTERNS: Simple graphic patterns such as stripes and checks.

ACCESSORIES: Accessories are classic; knitted hat and scarf, leather gloves, leather belt and weekend bags in leather or canvas.

Mads is shooting a new movie!

Mads is playing one of the leads in the upcoming, Danish movie "Flammen og Citronen". See this clip from Danish National TV, with scenes from set and an interview with the director and Mads. In the end of the clip Mads says, "We actually only have one photo of the guy I am playing in the movie" (Mads plays a nazi in occupied Denmark during WWII). The director corrects him saying, "We actually have several", leaving Mads puzzled: "I didn't know that". A cool little clip. [It is in Danish].

Mads Mikkelsen Joins William Friedkin's Coco & Igor

Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale) will play Russian composer Igor Stravinsky in Coco & Igor, director William Friedkin (Bug) just announced at the Cannes Film Festival.

Mikkelsen will star opposite Marina Hands (French César for best actress this year) who will embody the legendary fashion designer Coco Chanel.

Claudie Ossard (Paris, je t'aime, Amélie) and Chris Bolzli will produce for Eurowide Film Production.

Shooting will take place in Paris this September for a spring 2008 release.

Coco & Igor is adapted from the novel written by Chris Greenhalgh.

In 1913 Paris, Coco Chanel is infatuated with the rich and handsome Boy Capel, but she is also compelled by her work. Igor Stravinsky is rehearsing The Rite of Spring. The revolutionary dissonances of Igor's work parallel Coco's work as a radical couturière. Coco attends the scandalous first performance of The Rite in a chic white dress. The music and ballet are criticised as too modern, too foreign. Igor is inconsolable.

Seven years later, in 1920, Coco is wealthy and successful but grief-stricken as Boy Capel dies in a car crash. Igor, following the Russian Revolution is now a penniless refugee living in exile in Paris. Coco is introduced to Igor by Diaghilev, impresario of the Ballets Russes. The attraction between them is instant and electric. Coco invites Igor along with his wife - now sick with consumption - together with his four children and a menagerie of birds to stay at her new villa in Garches.

Igor spends his days composing, while Coco designs her dresses. The attraction between the two deepens, while Catherine looks on in dismay. Coco discovers the dandy in Igor, while Igor cultivates an artistic sympathy in Coco. Encouraged by Coco's friend Misia and Igor's friend Diaghilev, the two begin a passionate affair.

Mads Mikkelsen i ny international film [in Danish]

RITZAU: Mads Mikkelsen får hovedrollen i international film, hvor den danske skuespiller indtager rollen som den russiske komponist Igor Stravinskij.

Udlandet trækker igen i den populære skuespiller Mads Mikkelsen. Den 41-årige dansker får den mandlige hovedrolle i filmen 'Coco & Igor', hvor Mikkelsen spiller den russiske komponist Igor Stravinskij.

Filmen optages til september i Paris og forventes at lande i biograferne til næste forår.

Coco & Igor er et kærlighedsdrama, der udspiller sig i 1920'erne, mellem Stravinskij og Coco Chanel. Den kvindelige hovedrolle spilles af den 32-årige franske stjerne Marina Hands.

Instruktør på filmen bliver William Friedkin [IMDb, Wikipedia], der i starten af 70'erne instruerede klassikerne 'Exorcisten' og 'The French Connection'. Senest har Friedkin lavet filmen 'Bug'.

Coco & Igor baserer sig på romanen af samme navn, som Chris Greenhalgh udgav i 2003.
